Volunteering opportunities showcased at event

Published: 30 May 2024

An event in Worcester next month will showcase opportunities to volunteer with local charities and organisations.

Worcester Volunteer Expo 2024 is one of the largest events of its kind in the city, with nearly 40 organisations in attendance.

The Expo is being held at the Guildhall in High Street between 10am and 2pm on Friday 14 June.

Organisations specialising in the creative, dance and drama industries are amongst those attending the annual event.

There are also volunteer opportunities in driving careers, administration, practical mentoring, retail and conservation.

Representatives from groups working with young people, families and the elderly, as well as those working in computers, sports and many others will also be in attendance.

Volunteer opportunities are also available to assist people completing their Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Lloyd Griffiths, Worcester City Council's Corporate Director for Operations, Homes and Communities, said: "The Worcester Volunteer Expo is perfect for anyone who would like to make a difference to a cause that they feel strongly about.

"The event is an informal drop-in – there is no pressure to sign up on the day or to make any sort of commitment. I'd urge anyone interested in volunteering to attend and find out more."

Sally Ellison MBE, Project Co-ordinator for Worcester Community Action, said: "We are really looking forward to this year's Volunteer Expo - we have so many different organisations attending, including community groups, the voluntary sector and the statutory sector, so there should be something of interest for everyone.

"Whether you'd like to know about volunteering in archaeology, the environment, emergency services, health and care, driving, working with young people, older people, those with disabilities - all can be found at the Expo.

"Come along to the Guildhall on Friday 14 June – admission is free and there will be free tea and coffee. We're looking forward to welcoming you and helping you find the perfect volunteering opportunity!"
