City centre car park to be spruced up for Christmas shopping season

Published: 30 October 2023

One of Worcester's most popular car parks is to be resurfaced, to get it ready for a busy Christmas shopping season.

Copenhagen Street car park is just two minutes' walk from High Street and its 167 parking spaces are always busy. As a result, the car park's surface is subject to wear and tear.

The City Council will be resurfacing the car park over the period of 6-9 November to make sure it is ready to receive all the extra traffic over the upcoming festive season.

The car park will be closed for those four days, while the resurfacing work is carried out.

Councillor Zoe Cookson, Vice Chair of the Environment Committee, said: "It's been several years since Copenhagen Street car park was resurfaced and, because it is so popular, it does need this work doing to get it into the shape that our customers would expect when they arrive to enjoy the fabulous range of Christmas shopping that Worcester offers.

"While it is inconvenient for the car park to be closed for four days, I hope that customers will understand the need for this vital work to be carried out and will enjoy the improved parking experience when it reopens.

"Plenty of spaces in other car parks will be available, with full details at www.worcester.gov.uk/parking."

Copenhagen Street car park is located close to the Guildhall and Worcester's busy range of independent and big name shops, and is also just yards from the city's beautiful Riverside Park.

It has 161 standard parking spaces, four free-of-charge disable spaces, and two areas for motorbikes to park.
