Worcester residents asked for their views on plans for pump track at city park

Published: 27 October 2023

Local residents are being asked for their views on proposals to install a new tarmac pump track in Battenhall Park.

Pump tracks are designed for use with bikes, scooters, skateboards and other self-propelled forms of transport. They feature an undulating looped track with exciting features like bumps, small jumps and corners.

The track proposed for Battenhall Park would be around 50 metres long and 20 metres wide. The track riding surface would be 2 metres wide and approximately 100 metres in length. Riders would need to follow the track arrows and could use it in sections or as a continuous loop. The track design could incorporate straights, a variety of left and right-hand bends, and feature obstacles such as double and triple jumps.

Residents are being encouraged to give their views on the plans here.  The consultation runs until November 19.

Councillor Robyn Norfolk, chair of Worcester City Council's Place &Economic  Development committee, said: "We believe that the installation of a pump track would help provide residents of all ages with the opportunity for fun and exercise – and a safe way to learn new skills away from the public highway.

"The size of the track would mean that lots of people could use it at the same time. We would like to hear the views of residents, so I would urge people to have their say.."

People who are not able to complete the survey online can collect a printed copy from the Guildhall, or call 01905 722233 to request one.
