First payments of £150 energy rebate made to Worcester Council Tax payers

Published: 30 May 2022

Worcester City Council has issued the first payments of the £150 energy rebate to residents.

The energy rebate is part of the Government's response to the recent rise in fuel bills, and is being paid out by local councils.

Everyone in Worcester who pays their Council Tax by direct debit should now have received the payment directly into their bank accounts.

The City Council has made 26,749 payments, worth a total of £4,012,350.

Residents who pay their Council Tax by cash will shortly receive a voucher that they can redeem for £150 at the Post Office.

Shane Flynn, the City Council's Director of Resources, said: "We are very pleased to have made the first round of these payments and are now working to get the vouchers out as quickly as possible.

"If any residents who pay their Council Tax by direct debit have not received their £150 rebate, please contact us as soon as possible at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

"We will not be directly asking anyone for their bank details in order for them to receive the rebate. If anyone is contacted by phone or email by someone asking for their bank details in relation to this rebate, they should assume it's a scam and not respond."
