Work is starting later this month on the installation of Battenhall Park pump track.
Contractors are due to start working on site during the week commencing 23 September and the pump track installation will begin the following week (w/c 30 September).
Once started the work is due to take around four weeks – weather depending.
The pump track will be suitable for participants of all ages and skill levels using a standard or adaptive bike, scooter, skateboard, or roller blades.
The work is part of Worcester City Council’s Play Plan, which is prioritising the improvement of play facilities across the city.
Vice-Chair of the City Council’s Place and Economic Development Committee, Hannah Cooper said: “The pump track will provide a safe and controlled environment where people of all ages can develop their cycle skills and confidence.
“The facility will also allow people to develop social and life skills with friends. The pump track will be similar to those in other parts of Worcestershire which have been very successful.
“I look forward to seeing the track opened and people of all ages enjoying the free facility.”
The City Council’s Place & Economic Development Committee gave the go-ahead for the first pump track in Worcester in January this year.
The Council has consulted with residents about the plans and concerns raised have been responded to with a mitigation plan having been developed.
Botanical and geophysical surveys have been carried out, along with flood risk and noise assessments.
