New ways to pay and stay at Worcester car parks

Published: 02 September 2019

Next month will bring new ways to pay and stay in Worcester's 14 City Council-run car parks.

New payment machines will be installed during October, giving customers more options on how to pay than ever before.

As well as still being able to use coins, for the first time drivers will be able to pay by card – including contactless.

There will also be a great new option that will allow drivers to pay when they leave, by checking in and then checking out.

Customers can just swipe or enter their debit or credit card details to the payment machine on arrival and then remember to do it again before they leave. They can even check out at a different terminal within the same car park. It couldn't be simpler!

Whichever way they choose to pay, motorists will need to enter their full car registration number when they use the new machines.

Councillor Joy Squires, Chair of the Environment Committee, said: "The new payment machines will make it even easier to use the City Council's 14 convenient car parks in and around the city centre – including the competitively-priced St Martin's Gate multi-storey."

The new payment machines will be installed at the City Council's 13 surface-level car parks in the week of 7 October. In a few cases the machines will be in different locations within the car parks and there will be rearrangement of a small number of parking spaces.

The following week, new machines will be put in at St Martin's Gate multi-storey car park.

Customers can also continue to pay for parking with the RingGo smartphone app.
