A new piece of equipment has been installed at a Worcester play area, as the City Council continues to invest in facilities.

A new nest swing has been installed at the Green Hub in the heart of Dines Green.

The swing was installed after the council was approached regarding a lack of suitable play equipment at the park for those with additional needs.

The equipment is accessible for all and can help improve balance, coordination and spatial awareness.

The investment is part of Worcester City Council’s Play Plan - which pledges to improve outdoor play areas for youngsters over the next decade.

Chair of Worcester City Council’s Place and Economic Development Committee and Councillor for Dines Green and Grove Farm, Councillor Robyn Norfolk, said: “It is great to see the council improving play equipment which is suitable for everybody.

“It’s important that as a council we meet the needs of people using our play facilities. It’s brilliant to see children enjoying the new equipment.

“The swing is not only accessible but also encourages social interaction as several children can use the equipment at the same time.

“We are continuing to investigate new ways that we can improve play provision across Worcester.”

Youth Work Project Manager at Worcester Community Trust, Leisa Taylor, added: “It's fabulous to see the City Council's investment in accessible play areas and its commitment to its Play Plan.

“Worcester Community Trust run sessions for young people aged eight to 11 and 12 to 18 on Wednesdays at the Green Hub.

“It's great to have access to good play facilities to enhance our work here as well as our sessions at the Horizon Hub on Thursdays, where a shelter has been built for young people and the multi-use games area (MUGA) has been improved.

“We also deliver sessions at KGV Hub in Brickfields on Fridays, where we have access to good sport facilities.”
