Catching the bus, traveling by foot or riding a bike to the Worcester Show could save you money and help the environment.

Taking place at Pitchcroft on Sunday 11 August, the Show is a community day out for all the family.

To help reduce the Show’s carbon footprint, the City Council has teamed up with First Bus and Beryl Bikes to provide alternative travel options on the big day.

First Bus is one of the Show’s sponsors and will be providing bus services across Worcester throughout the day.

Routes will terminate at Worcester Bus Station – just a short walk from Pitchcroft – and the last busses leave after the Show finishes at 5pm.

Sam Lucker, from First Worcester’s marketing team, said: “The Worcester Show is one of the annual highlights in the city’s calendar, and with more than 10,000 people attending and us being one of the key local transport providers, it’s a no-brainer that we’re involved.

“For those coming to enjoy this annual celebration of local produce, horticulture and crafts, we offer a range of bus services, with some operating every 20 minutes.

“And to help take the stress out of driving and parking, a single bus trip costs £2 and our special group ticket, allowing up to five people to travel all day, is £10 – making bus travel to and from the show the easiest and most affordable option.

“We’re proud to be sponsoring this year’s show, and we hope that with regular bus services and low fares we can encourage more people to sit back, relax and enjoy a journey to and from the area’s premier country show.

“Visit the Worcester Show page on the First Bus website to find out more and plan your journey.”

Alternatively, you could get to the Worcester Show by bike, with Pitchcroft being an ideal riverside destination for a leisurely morning cycle ride.

To coincide with Worcester Show, Beryl – who have recently launched their bike hire scheme in the city – are offering 15 minutes free travel and also free bike unlocking from any journeys starting or ending at bays closest to Pitchcroft.

Beryl is also installing a temporary bay which will be inside the Show’s southern entrance off Pitchcroft car park.

Beryl CEO and co-founder Phil Ellis said: "Our bikes and e-bikes are not only good for the environment, they're also fun, convenient, easy to use and cost-effective, removing the need for vehicle ownership expenses such as fuel, tax, MOT, storage and maintenance.

“With this special offer, we hope to encourage as many people as possible to travel to the show in a sustainable manner."

Worcester Show celebrates everything great about the community in our city. This year entry to the Show will cost £2 per adult, with under-16s going free.
