Worcester City Council is reviewing the locations that are currently being used as polling stations for elections in the city – and wants to hear your feedback on them.

The quick survey gives Worcester residents the chance to have their say on where they cast their vote and the facilities at their polling station.

They can give their views on everything from the geographical area that their polling station is part of, to the lighting and accessibility arrangements in the polling station itself.

Shane Flynn, Acting Returning Officer for the Worcester constituency said: “We want to make sure that everyone in Worcester who is eligible to vote can exercise their democratic right in a place that is accessible for them.

“This consultation will help us to highlight and resolve any problems which might deter voters from visiting their designated polling station.

“If you have views on how polling stations in your area could be improved, or would like to suggest alternative locations, then this is your opportunity to have a say before the next election takes place in Worcester.

“We would particularly like to hear from disabled residents and people with expertise in access for people with any type of disability, to make sure our polling stations are open to everybody.

“Please fill in our short questionnaire at www.worcester.gov.uk/voiceit, or collect a printed copy from the Guildhall, to help us identify any changes needed.

“Remember to state which polling district, polling place and polling station you are making comments about when you complete the survey.”

The first stage of the consultation starts on 1 August and runs for six weeks until 12 September.

The Acting Returning Officer will then make comments on the existing arrangements and propose any changes.

A second stage of the consultation will run for four weeks from 20 September, giving people a chance to comment on any proposed changes.

The review results will then be considered at a Council committee meeting later in the year.

Take part in the survey now or you can obtain a printed copy of the consultation at the Guildhall or by calling 01905 722233.
