A revised plan that will set out Worcester City Council’s work for the next five years is being drawn up – and city residents, visitors and businesses are being encouraged to have their say on it.

The Council’s current City Plan is based on five themes that have shaped its work for Worcester in recent years:

  • Stronger and connected communities
  • A prosperous city
  • A healthy and active city
  • A heritage city with a 21st Century culture
  • Enhancing and sustaining our beautiful city for future generations.

The Council is now asking people to have their say on how the plan should be revised for the next five years. They can give their views here from now until 13 October.

David Blake, Managing Director of Worcester City Council, said: “The City Plan is a central part of our work, and sets out our priorities for Worcester. Over the last few years it has shaped the Council’s activities and services, and has also helped us secure nearly £50m in Government capital investment for the city by setting out a clear vision for the future.

“This has enabled funding contributions towards the delivery of major projects like the Shrub Hill regeneration, the new Three Counties Centre for Health and Wellbeing, Worcester Community Trust’s new Building Block 2 construction skills training centre, and enhancements to the Cathedral’s gardens.

“The revised City Plan will be an important foundation of the Council’s work over the next five years and I would encourage everyone who lives and works in Worcester, or who enjoys visiting our beautiful city, to seize this opportunity to influence the revised plan at www.worcester.gov.uk/voiceit.”

Following the completion of this consultation, a draft City Plan for 2025-2030 will be prepared and taken to a meeting of the full City Council for approval in February 2025.

Once approved, the new City Plan will be published on the Council’s website. Future decisions for the Council and its committees will then be based on the themes and priorities set out in the new plan.
