The deadlines to register for competition categories at this year’s Worcester Show are quickly approaching, with the community event just weeks away.

Hundreds of pounds worth of prizes and coveted Worcester Show trophies are to be won at the event on Sunday 11 August.

This year’s theme is dinosaurs and there are a range of competition classes to enter, from floral to cakes, handicraft to photography.

Amongst them is the creative technology category which asks exhibitors to create a film or animation, while in the literature section you can create either a poem, a piece of fiction, song or script.

Meanwhile, the youth skills and creativity category for 12 to 17-year-olds covers a rage of sections, as does the fun and creativity competition for younger children.

The sponsored class categories are set to be popular again with days out, hampers and gift vouchers among the prizes to be won.

Helen Platt has been entering Show categories for over 10 years and is encouraging others to also compete.

“Bringing colour and decoration to the Show is all part of it,” she said.

“You don’t need to be an artisan, as you can watch videos online about making different arrangements and how to do everything.

“I usually look at the classes and then as I’m going about everyday life ideas come to me.”

The Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Mel Allcott, will be presenting prizes to the winners.

She said: “Every year the standard of the entries at Worcester Show is so high and I look forward to seeing them.

“This is a chance to challenge yourself and showcase your skills to our judges.

“There are some great prizes on offer so make sure you register at www.worcestershow.org.uk/exhibitors.”

A vintage afternoon tea for two on the Severn Valley Railway is one of the sponsored prizes, for the fittingly named Afternoon Tea category.

Also providing prizes for the sponsored class categories are: Hobbycraft, the Three Counties Showground, Wool-Pots, The Gallery Pershore, Script Haven, Worcester Racecourse, Plantamamita and Pershore College.

Entries need to be made online on the exhibitors section of the Worcester Show website  by no later than 10am on Monday 5 August.

Digital entries for the Creative Technology Section must be submitted no later than Wednesday 31 July by WeTransfer to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Worcester Show celebrates everything great about the community in our city. This year entry to the Show will cost £2 per adult, with under-16s going free.

People are urged to get their tickets early from the Worcester Show tickets page.
