City Council car parks all awarded Park Mark

Published: 16 March 2023

Worcester motorists can park with confidence at any of the city council's 14 car parks, knowing that each has been awarded with a Park Mark under the Safer Parking Scheme.

The Safer Parking Scheme is a national standard for UK car parks which have a low crime rate as well as measures in place to ensure the safety of both people and of vehicles. These measures include the car park being clean, tidy and well-lit, with good signage.

To be awarded with a Park Mark, each car park is assessed by specially-trained police officers. The Park Mark is awarded to the car park, not the organisation which runs it, as not all car parks may pass the rigorous tests.

But Worcester City Council is delighted to announce that each and every one of its 14 car parks has been given the award.

Cllr Karen Lewing, vice chair of Worcester City Council's Environment Committee, said: "We are delighted to see that all of our car parks have once again achieved the Park Mark and I'd like to thank everyone who plays a part in ensuring our car parks are safe places where visitors and residents can park with confidence before enjoying everything our wonderful city has to offer.
