Thousands of flowers are being planted in hanging baskets this week, in a bid to brighten up the city centre and entice visitors back to Worcester.
Petunias, busy lizzies, begonias and geraniums will fill 160 baskets, adding a splash of colour to central areas including High Street, Broad Street, Cathedral Square, Cornmarket, Friar Street, New Street and Worcester's Riverside.
"We are working hard to make Worcester as attractive as possible, as we recover from the pandemic and welcome more people back to the city centre," says Cllr Marc Bayliss, Leader of Worcester City Council.
"There are a number of festivals and exciting events happening in Worcester this summer.We look forward to welcoming many tourists, with more people holidaying in the UK than usual this year."
It is the biggest investment Worcester City Council has made in floral decoration in over a decade. The move is part of a £500,000 programme to improve the cleanliness of streets and public spaces, and to improve the overall appearance of the city centre.
