Your chance to find out how to be a city councillor

Published: 25 February 2021
If you're thinking of standing as a councillor in May's Worcester City Council election, you won't want to miss an upcoming special online briefing session.

The events will give prospective candidates – and their potential agents – all the essential information they need to know about the elections.

The briefing will be held at 6pm on Monday March 15. Would-be candidates and agents must book in advance to join the online briefings.

The briefing will run through essentials like how to complete nomination papers, how much can be spent on campaigning, how postal votes work and much more.

There will also be a West Mercia Police officer on hand to discuss the dangers of electoral fraud.

This year's elections will take place on Thursday May 6.

Twelve City Council seats will be contested, in the Arboretum, Battenhall, Bedwardine, Cathedral, Claines, Gorse Hill, Nunnery, Rainbow Hill, St Clement, St John, St Stephen, and Warndon wards. These polls were postponed last year because of the pandemic.

On the same day, all 57 seats on Worcestershire County Council will also be contested and polls will be held for the West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner.
