COVID: Registration opens for new discretionary grants to support Worcester businesses

Applications are now open for grants for Worcester businesses that have been impacted by the November 2020 lockdown.The new Local Restrictions Discretionary Grant offers support to businesses which are not eligible for the existing Local Restrictions Support Grant , using funding from central government.

Worcester City Council will, at its own discretion, offer grants of up to £3,000 to support eligible businesses and organisations that:

  • are severely impacted by restrictions – for example suppliers to the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors, or events-based businesses
  • Businesses and organisations that rely on providing 'in person' services either from their premises or at customers' premises and have been severely impacted by the current lockdown.They may have had to close or chosen to close, experienced loss of income, or are unable to provide services remotely.

Businesses and organisations of any size are eligible to apply, if they:

  • were trading on 4 November 2020
  • occupy rateable or non-rateable property.

Businesses can apply for the grant online at  www.worcester.gov.uk/business/covid-19-local-restrictions-discretionary-grant

The deadline to receive applications is 5.00pm on Friday 11 December 2020.

Shane Flynn, Worcester City Council's Director of Resources, said:

"If you think your business qualifies for a grant, we urge you to apply on our website now; we will process your application as quickly as possible."
