What does Worcester’s historic city centre mean to you?

Published: 30 July 2020

A survey has been launched to explore residents' perceptions on the importance of heritage in Worcester's city centre.  The findings will contribute to decisions on how the city's historic character can best be preserved and protected in the future.

Worcester's Historic City Conservation Area was designated in 1969 and covers most of the city centre; it extends south from the railway line to the canal at Diglis Basin, between the River Severn and City Walls Road.

"Worcester's heritage is a major draw for many visitors, helping in turn to boost the city's economy," says Cllr Lucy Hodgson, Chair of the City Council's Place and Economic Development Sub Committee.

"This survey will help us to establish what aspects of Worcester's heritage residents value the most, and to identify new opportunities to preserve and protect the city's unique character for future generations to enjoy.I urge everyone who lives or works in Worcester to give us their views."
