Event will showcase volunteering opportunities in Worcester

Published: 01 June 2023

People looking to make a difference by volunteering are invited to a special event showcasing opportunities available with local charities and organisations.

Worcester Volunteer Expo 2023 has been organised jointly by Worcester City Council and Worcester Community Action and will run from 10am to 2pm on Friday June 9 at the Guildhall.

Around 40 organisations are expected at the annual event, including representatives from groups working with young people, families and the elderly, as well as those working in computers, sports, dance and drama, and many others.

Last year's event was very successful with positive feedback from both participants and those who had dropped in to find out more about volunteering opportunities in Worcester.

Councillor Jabba Riaz, Chair of Worcester City Council's Communities Committee, said: "This event is perfect for anyone who would like to make a difference to a cause they feel strongly about, or who would just to find out more about the volunteering opportunities available.

"Volunteer Expo is an informal drop-in event – there is no pressure to sign up on the day or to make any sort of commitment. I'd urge anyone interested in volunteering to drop in and find out more."

Sally Ellison MBE, Project Co-ordinator for Worcester Community Action, said: "We are really looking forward to this years' Volunteer Expo - we have more organisations than ever attending, including community groups, the voluntary sector and the statutory sector, so that there should be something for everyone to find of interest. Whether you'd like to know about volunteering in archaeology, the environment, emergency services, health & care, driving, working with young people, older people, those with disabilities - all can be found at the Expo.

"Come along to the event – admission is free and there will be free tea and coffee - we'll look forward to welcoming you and helping you find the perfect volunteering opportunity!"
