Mayor to host Coronation Big Lunch at the city’s historic Guildhall

Published: 21 March 2023

The Mayor of Worcester Councillor Adrian Gregson is to host a special lunch at the city's historic Guildhall to mark the coronation of King Charles III.

The Coronation Big Lunch on Sunday May 7 is part of a whole weekend of celebrations for the coronation of King Charles III and the Mayor is inviting charity and volunteering organisations to nominate representatives to attend.

The event will be hosted by the Mayor at midday and will consist of a pre-lunch aperitif followed by a buffet lunch held in the Guildhall's magnificent Assembly Room. All invitees will also be presented with a civic gift from the Mayor in recognition of the event and the coronation of King Charles III.

Charity and volunteering organisations and groups from across the city are invited to nominate either two people from their organisation or one person plus a guest.

The Mayor said: "The Coronation Big Lunch is a perfect way to celebrate the hard work and dedication shown by so many Worcester residents who go above and beyond to help others in the community.

"I'm really looking forward to welcoming many of these people to my Coronation Big Lunch and I'd urge anyone working in voluntary or charitable organisations in Worcester to nominate as a guest, someone who has made a great contribution to charitable and volunteering work within the community."

To nominate someone you must be 18 or over and you cannot nominate yourself. Nominations must be received no later than 12 noon on Friday April 7, 2023. Nominations will be selected on a random basis and successful nominees will be contacted by email on Monday 17 April 2023.
