Have your say on proposed new political map for Worcester City Council

New boundaries are being proposed for council wards in Worcester City Council.

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) wants to hear what residents and local organisations think about the proposals. A 10-week consultation on the proposals will run until 9 January 2023.

The Commission is the independent body that draws these boundaries. It is reviewing Worcester to make sure councillors will represent about the same number of electors, and that ward arrangements will help the Council work effectively.

The Commission has published proposals for changes to Worcester. It is proposing that there should be 35 councillors in the future, representing five three-councillor wards and ten two-councillor wards. Twelve of the wards will change and three will remain the same

Proposed changes include:

• The existing Cathedral ward will be split into two (City Centre and Fort Royal)
• The existing Gorse Hill and Warndon wards will be merged, with some electors moved into Nunnery ward

Launching the consultation Professor Colin Mellors, Chair of the Commission, said: "We want people in Worcester to help us.

"We have drawn up proposals for new wards in Worcester. We want to make sure these new electoral arrangements reflect communities. We also want them to be easy to understand and convenient for local people.
