Visitors to this year's Worcester Show are being encouraged to consider leaving their cars at home and instead use public transport - or walk or cycle to the event.
Worcester Show takes place on Sunday August 14 at Pitchcroft Racecourse and whilst parking will be available near the site, people travelling from outside Worcester are encouraged to use local train and bus services. Pitchcroft is just a five-minute walk from Crowngate bus station and only ten minutes away from Worcester Foregate Street railway station.
Local residents are urged to combine their fun day out with exercise and fresh air – by cycling or walking. There will be signs to the show from popular cycling and walking routes around the city, meaning that the whole family can pop along without even taking the car.
Worcester City Council has been working with Bike Worcester to emphasise that the show is the ideal opportunity to encourage more people to take to two-wheeled transport – or indeed just to walk.
At the show there will be opportunities to try out e-bikes and go on short rides around popular routes.
Ian Hilton-Turvey of the Friends of Worcester Show said: "We're very much looking forward to welcoming everyone to this year's Show, there will be so much to see and do - it really promises to be a great day out for all the family!"
There are just a few days left to submit your entries for any of the 140 competition classes on offer. These range from floral displays, fruit and vegetables and cookery to arts, crafts and photography. There will also be a fun dog show on the day.
Entries for the classes close on August 8 and can be submitted online. Those without internet access can visit the Tourist Information Office at the Guildhall for a paper copy.
Other attractions will include a Mela marquee, traditional merry-go-round, bouncy castles, face painting and a sports zone. There will be a wide variety of food and drink on offer as well as an array of market stalls and independent stalls.
Musical entertainment will be spread across two stages with bands taking to the Tom Jones main stage and other acts appearing on the community stage.
The show is delivered by Worcester City Council, supported by the Friends of Worcester Show, and for 2022, in partnership with Worcester BID, Worcester Timber Products and Chin Badger Media.
