The death has been announced of former Worcester city councillor and Mayor, Aubrey Tarbuck.
Aubrey Tarbuck was first elected as a Conservative city councillor to the Nunnery ward of Worcester in 1966. After losing his seat in 1971, he re-joined the City Council after being elected to the St Peter's ward in 1998. Aubrey became Mayor of Worcester from 2005 – 2006 and was also a Malvern Hills district councillor for a number of years.
He was recently reunited with City Council colleagues at a special event held at the Guildhall on 2 October 2021, to mark the 400th anniversary of the signing of Worcester's city Charter. Several former Worcester mayors attended.
"I enjoyed working with Aubrey; he was very conscientious and his professional financial background helped to make him an asset to the many committees he served on. His ability to understand the complexities of projects, budgets and cash flow added clarity in the run-up to several key decisions," said Cllr Marc Bayliss, Leader of Worcester City Council.
"My thoughts are with his family and friends at this time."
Aubrey grew up in Worcester, attending the Royal Grammar School. Later he was employed by Worcestershire County Council's audit department, as a senior officer at Lloyd's bank and at local firm GR Pratley & Sons.
