What if my landlord doesn't carry out repairs?

If you are a tenant of Worcester Community Housing or another Housing Association, you can report any complaints to your landlord.

Can I buy my property?

This depends on whether you are a Council or Housing Association tenant. As Worcester City Council do not hold any housing stock in the city any longer, it is likely you are a Housing Association tenant.

Can I pass on my tenancy?

There may be several reasons why you might want to pass on your tenancy to someone else. Whether you can do this depends on your tenancy type. If you have any queries about this you should contact your landlord direct to receive advise.

What type of tenant am I?

This all depends on when you obtained your tenancy with your landlord. The best way to find out is to look at your tenancy agreement or contact your landlord who will be able to advice you on your rights.

Can I transfer / exchange to another property?

As a tenant of a Housing Association or Council property you may be entitled to a mutual exchange. A mutual exchange is where you exchange your property with another Housing Association or Council tenant. This can mean you are able to move more quickly than through Home Choice Plus and also offers a wider range of areas.

Most Housing Associations in Worcester are registered with Home Swapper or with House Exchange, which are national mutual exchange websites and allow you to register for free. If your Landlord is not part of the Home Swapper or the House Exchange schemes you may still be able to join for a small fee.
